The City leadership gave us the task of compiling a study into the new appearance of Smíchov transport terminal.

The City leadership gave us the task of compiling a study into the new appearance of Smíchov transport terminal. The procurement procedure was won by the A69 - architekti architecture studio, which subsequently compiled a competition proposal for the Smíchov terminal. Work began on more detailed documentation following discussion with those involved in the area and coordination with Správa železnic (Railway Administration). The architectural studio and the designer, an association of SUDOP PRAHA, SUDOP EU and Metroprojekt, will compile a complete project for the future modern transport node. The new appearance of the Smíchov railway station should unify transport nodes and offer faster and generally easier transfer between different types of transport - meaning that it will better connect trains, buses, local public transport, the Metro and the P+R parking lot. If everything goes according to plan, building work will be completed in 2025.

What should happen and why? What will change?

What should happen?

  • The transformation of the Smíchov railway station into a modern transport terminal.
  • The construction of a new terminal for intercity and urban bus transport above the railway station.
  • The construction of a P+R parking lot on Dobříšská Street with up to 1000 spaces.
  • The construction of B+R in several places, with a total capacity of up to 1000 bicycles.
  • Revitalization of the area in front of the railway station and changing the traffic layout.
  • Faster and easier transfer between different types of transport - train, bus, local public transport, Metro, P+R parking lot.
  • The electrification of bus transport at the terminal.
  • Supplementing the historic concourse from the 1950s with a new section, with shops and amenities for passengers.
  • The establishment of an office building for Správa železnic.
  • The new platform above the station will also include a pedestrian footbridge that links the area in front of the station to the new building to the north-west of the railway station.
